The Benue State House of Assembly Monday held a prayer session in Makurdi, the Benue state capital to seek divine intervention from God amid security concerns in the state
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, who spoke during the prayers session, said the event was a solemn blend of reflection and resolve to seek God’s intervention in the ongoing insecurity in the state and to thank Him for marking two years in office.
The speaker, who also serves as Vice Chairman (North Central) of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, emphasised the need for divine intervention in the face of persistent security challenges in the state.

“The Assembly will continue to work with passion to achieve lasting peace in our dear state,” Dajoh said during his address.
He urged citizens to rally together in ending the violence that has plagued many communities.
He commended Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia for laying what he described as a strong foundation for reconciliation and governance, calling on the public to support the administration’s peacebuilding efforts.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and representative of Katsina-Ala West, Hon. Peter Ipusu, reflected on the assembly’s achievements since its inauguration on June 5, 2023.
Benue gov blames clerics for worsening insecurity
He noted that 63 bills and numerous motions have been passed in the past two years. He said lawmakers, during the prayers, contributed to a local church project, signaling their dedication to development beyond the legislative floor.
